Dubai from a small village to an international modern city

Dubai has quickly become one of the top touristic destinations in the World.
Tourism is a major resoces of Dubai economic, the city has been provided with many factors wich are attracted by number of people from the varius part of the world.
When talking about Dubai we should consider speaking firstly about Emirates (United Arabic Emirates) which is a federation of seven emirates located in the southeast of the Arabian Peninsula on the Persian Gulf. With a population of 4.6 million and land area of approximately 30,000 square miles, UAE’s seven states (called emirates) include: Abu Dhabi (the capital emirate), Ajman, Dubai, Fujairah, Ras al-Khaimah, Sharjah and Umm al-Quwain.1 The nation borders Oman and Saudi Arabia and shares sea borders with Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Qatar. Compared to its neighbors, UAE is small in land mass and population.

Basically when we want to speak about Emirates the first thing that comes into the mind is the Oil which played a great role in the establishment of Emirates. The country’s landscape shifted dramatically in the early 1960s, when oil was discovered in Abu Dhabi. By 1962, it became the first emirate to export oil, and these natural resources virtually transformed the nature of the region’s economy and society.

So, coming back to the main topic of our subject today which is tourism, we should generally take a look at Dubai’s location. So it is located on the southern shore of the Gulf in the south-eastern part of the Arabian Peninsula. It lies between 55o16 North. The total area of the Emirates is 3,885 sq. km. Despite that the location of Dubai is not that interest but during about 20 years the country achieve a great success in many fields not only in tourism.

Looking back at the very beginning of the appearance of tourism in 1998 there weren’t even hotels in Dubai; visitors had no choice but to stay with their hosts or colleagues.

The following two decades Dubai saw a great development so there was appearance of the basic facilities for travelers. The event that almost changes the structure of tourism there was the establishment of the international airport in 1959. Spurred by the discovery of oil in 1966, a number of small hotels began to open to serve the needs of Dubai’s growing economy.

After that date it wasn’t so hard for the country to continue working on tourism especially while internationally this field was so important and stole all people’s attention. Thus Dubai’s tourism began to grow even faster than other countries.

Looking up today we can see that Dubai is one of the world’s most growing city. Thanks to many establishments like the highest and finest hotel Burj Al Arab, the highest building is also ready now, some of the world’s biggest shopping malls. Man made palm shaped beaches, which have apartment build over. The world biggest airport is also in Dubai.

Let us not to forget that Burj Al Arab today is in the international competition between many tall buildings and remarkably it is the tallest one.
